Nose to Nose
A friend of mine has a theory that he insists is true. He says that most married couples have noses that are very similar. His theory is that we are attracted to and marry people with noses similar to our own. Now as I look around, I can’t stop myself from comparing ‘couple noses’. I say my friend’s theory is wrong. He wouldn’t budge and says at least 85% of the couples he compares have similar noses.
Your mission for this post, should you choose to accept it, is to compare couple noses and help me disprove his theory. (It’s not that I have to be right, it’s just that I can’t help having a competitive streak ). So, help me out bloggers!

My nose is very different than my husband’s. His is cute and round. Mine is long and pointy. Maybe your friend is looking at old couples. Noses are one of those things that just sorta keep growing a little bit for your whole life. By the time you’re an old person your nose in going to look just like everyone else’s nose, huge.

Alas, Rob and I do not have similar noses either.
We do, somehow, though we do not see it, look alike. People more than once have asked if we were brother and sister.

Starfoxy and Naiah, Hah! My score for this unscientific survey is now two for two. Thanks for sharing your nose stories.
Naiah, thanks for sharing the great pics of you and your hubby. I don’t mean to be nosey, but why aren’t you in a picture together?

I had to go back 8 MONTHS to hit a shot of the two of us together on my photoblog. Clearly, we need to take more pictures together. Here you go:

(Please forgive the tank top; that picture was taken something like a week before I unexpectedly found myself back in the church.)

Okay, after a very scientific study of my family portrait and my husband’s family portrait I found 6 couples with not similar noses, and 2 couples with similar noses. However, while doing this most scientific comparison I wondered if your friend doesn’t suffer from nose differentiation troubles. If 90% of noses look exactly the same to him, then it stands to reason that most couples’ noses will look similar. If everyone with a unique nose married a person with a standard nose then you have 20% of the population with noses that don’t look the same, which leaves 80% of the population married to someone with a nose just like theirs (at least in your friends eyes).
Here is a picture for nose comparison.

As a single woman, I’m thinking that perhaps I should be paying more attention to this. (”You’re a great guy, but I just don’t think our noses are compatible.”)

So, is he still of his same couple, same nose opinion? Or has he discovered for himself that it is a relatively small phenom?
