Thanks for reminding us that we can Get to know our Father in Heaven on a very personal level. I love Elder Holland and his insights on many different topics. I think he has been given the task of approaching many difficult ideas to ponder. It is nice to be reminded of some of the basics that we can do.

I was talking with a friend today about how our faith is based in the characteristics of God -- His attributes. We can have faith in Him because of His perfect love, mercy, longsuffering, etc. Because we have a record of the Savior's life, we can know of His characteristics. And because He is simply doing what the Father would do, we can know Father better. I could <i>hear</i> Elder Holland's voice saying, "I want you to know Him...." :) Mary, thank you for this essay.
