Isaiah 40-49

My good friend, Debbie, has agreed to let me share her handout from our Gospel Doctrine lesson this past Sunday. The first section was my favorite — see what you can find out about the Savior in the following passages. (I’m hoping we will hear from Debbie again sometime soon. She has taught me a lot and I am anxious for you to be able to learn from and with her, too.)

The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that we need a “a correct idea of God’s character, perfections and attributes” in order to have faith in Him. (Lectures on Faith)
Man works with wood, stone and metal to create images to worship as gods. God works with man to mold him into the image of God that we may be like him.

“As man is, God once was, As God is, man may become.” -Lorenzo Snow

The Savior “is saying to us,’Trust me, learn of me, do what I do. Then, when you walk where I am going,’ he says, ‘we can talk about where you are going and the problems you face and the troubles you have. If you will follow me, I will lead you out of the darkness.’” Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, April Conference, 2006
