I looked up Peace in True to the Faith after reading this post and I really liked this part:

"In addition to feeling peace yourself, you can be an influence for peace in your family, your community, and the world. You work for peace when you keep the commandments, give service, care for family members and neighbors, and share the gospel. You work for peace whenever you help relieve the suffering of another."

Not only can we feel inner peace, but we can work for peace, be an influence for peace. I love it!

I liked what I read about peace in <i>True to the Faith</i> recently:

<blockquote>"Many people think of peace as the absence of war. But we can feel peace even in times of war, and we can lack peace even when no war is raging. The mere absence of conflict is not enough to bring peace to our hearts. Peace comes through the gospel—through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the ministration of the Holy Ghost, and our own righteousness, sincere repentance, and diligent service.

Even when the world is in turmoil all around you, you can receive the blessing of inner peace. This blessing will continue with you as you stay true to your testimony of the gospel and as you remember that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you and watch over you.

In addition to feeling peace yourself, you can be an influence for peace in your family, your community, and the world. You work for peace when you keep the commandments, give service, care for family members and neighbors, and share the gospel. <b>You work for peace whenever you help relieve the suffering of another.</b>" (emphasis mine)</blockquote>

RoAnn,
It's been fun to see how different scriptures stand out for different people. I love how the scriptures are the same for all of us, and yet are so personal because the Spirit can highlight those we personally need.

Alison,
I am grateful this could be meaningful for you!

Mary,
I agree...peace is one of my favorite scriptural topics.

Michelle, thanks for this peaceful post! I can't seem to get enough scriptural reminders to help me as I seek after peace. Having at least some peace in my life helps me to work on other things--I'm more able to think and reason and figure out what I need to do and to work on!

Reading these scriptures is a great way to start a new year. Thanks for this post, Michelle.

I particularly noticed D&C 19:23, because it contains three keys to obtaining the peace I truly desire: "Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me."

I know that the promises of the Lord are sure. So it seems to me that if I want to have the peace of God in my life, if I have the right attitude and act according to the Lord's will, I can access that peace even when everything around me may seem WAY too chaotic and uncertain! I am so grateful for that "tender mercy."

Oh, Peace is such a wonderful gift.
I have to share that I felt it again last night, after DH and I had couple prayer. We're struggling to know which job he should take and where we should move. It's not a life-threatening or life-shaking decision, but it has been very stressful for ME, and I think my husband really knew that, therefore making our prayer last night directed towards my worries. Jeremiah 29:11 (up there at the top) fit the way I felt perfectly.
Thanks, Michelle, for this post. It's a good reminder to know that Peace can come at any time we need it...we just have to ask for it. :)

Eric,
There ARE more scriptures on peace! :) I picked the ones that caught my attention. :)

Naiah, we must be alike in some ways, cuz I'm a worrier, too. :)

"Let not your heart be troubled"

That is one of the dearest scriptures to me, probably because I'm a worrier. :)
