Thanks, Michelle! I think you're right--our own geography (and other details) can play a role in our lives and affect what we do and who we are.

Thanks for this piece. Good food for thought.

This also makes me think about the details of our lives (where we live, etc.) that can likely be part of our plan and growth as well.

Thanks for the comments, Pop and Irene! I enjoyed reading this and thinking about the possibilities of new insights to be gained from knowing more background (geography, history, etc.), so I am glad if others enjoyed it, too. I know the spiritual aspects of the scriptures are the most important, but I think there are spiritual insights couched in terms of geography, history, etc. and so the more we know and understand, the more we get out of the scriptures.

Wow! This was so interesting Mary. I haven't given much thought to the geography etc. and this article really gives a lot of background. I enjoy that. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I have always been a geography/history type of person and yes it gives you a great deal of insight. In today's modern world I have very good friends serving Senior Missions in two very different countries. Because of geographic and cultural differences they are having very different experiences. You need an appreciation of the differences to understand their respective experiences.
